High School and Middle School Programs
The school day at Gateway Academy follows a seven-period schedule, with each class lasting approximately 50 minutes. This structure provides students with a balanced and predictable routine while allowing flexibility to meet individual academic needs.
The primary focus is on core academic courses—Math, English, Science, and Social Studies—for all students. Core content is delivered through a blended learning model utilizing online platforms such as Edgenuity, Canvas and APEX. These programs allow students to engage in self-paced digital instruction that aligns with state standards and individual learning goals.
Classroom teachers play a vital role in supplementing online coursework with teacher-generated lessons, discussions, and hands-on labs designed to reinforce key concepts, promote critical thinking, and provide opportunities for collaboration and application.
Elective course options are limited due to the program’s focus on core academic recovery and acceleration. However, the school counselor works individually with students to identify elective opportunities that align with their graduation requirements and personal interests. This individualized approach ensures each student receives a well-rounded educational experience that supports both academic and personal growth.
